GENERAL PEDIATRIC CARE

Dr. Rachel McDonald graduated from the UBC Pediatrics Residency Program in 2021 after obtaining her medical degree at the University of Sydney, Australia. She worked as a Clinical Trainee in the Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant Department prior to general pediatrics training.

 

Rachel offers a full general pediatric service, a Pediatric Diabetes clinic and Gender Affirming Care to patients in Nelson and the surrounding area. She is also a pediatrician in the Kootenay Eating Disorders team. Her patient population includes neonates through to 19yrs. She is an Associate professor of UBC and enjoys mentoring medical students, family medicine and pediatric residents.

 

Rachel was born and raised in Nelson, and recently returned after many years away. She is grateful to be bringing her beautiful family, including husband and 3 young boys, back to the Kootenays to enjoy all that is offered by our lakes, mountains and people within the community. Rachel aims to provide her patients with optimal care, balancing western medical philosophy and evidence based practice alongside physical and emotional wellness through exercise, eating well and healthy living.
